Greyhound Gathering - Nottingham 18th Sept.

Postby Dolly » Sun Sep 12, 2010 9:55 pm

Hi,

Anyone going to the Great Greyhound Gathering in Nottingham this Saturday 18th September ?

We might have to do a bit more shopping for Dino !!!

It's such a lovely day - Last year they estimated 800 dogs went. The first year we went, Freddy just wouldn't rest at all - He was so excited and didn't want to miss a thing.

I will be doing a bit of dual supporting there this year. Freddy was going to be the Croftview entry for the Retired Greyhound of the year, so his bestest friend Rex has taken his place.

So Freddy running free at the bridge will be supporting Rex, and Dino will be supporting local girl Lottie.

If anyone is thinking of going at the last minute - We are staying at the Nottingham Gateway Hotel which is really dog friendly.

xDx

Hi,

We are hopefully going, I want to put Hector in the black greyhound section, as long as they don't mind toothless hounds!

Jo and hector(he will have his blue collar on) :D

Thank-you for your good wishes everyone
Sam, how clever of you to attach the photo too!
The usual abolutions have been just slightly stepped up in preparation...
Lottie is very tolerant of the teeth brushing, grooming and general sneaking of all things healthy for dogs in her bowl (not all of which she likes!) BUT she certainly has enjoyed a few extra raw bones recently :D ;)

Just to add a little drama.......
Last week I noticed a slightly sore patch under her right lower lip, and so started applying some of the magic healing cream that has proved excellent for many skin conditions. Then on Saturday it suddenly looked worse and also again suddenly she was diving down and gnawing under the base of her tail and it looked really sore, eeek :( So off to the vets.
Antibiotics and anti-inflammatories and 3 days on and both ends are looking sooooooo much better phew.... :)
I wasn`t going to even mention this but then thought that possibly another greyhound could start showing similar symptoms, in which case, get your hound to the vets!
There was no definitive reason given for this infection but what we do know is that the licking kept the cycle of infection going.
Follow up appointment on Wednesday pm.....

Don`t panic  Jim Dash is a most excellent vet and Lottie`s sore bits really hardly notice now and as she is incredibly shiny with all this buffing and polishing all who behold her are dazzled

Hi folks

As Lottie and I walked in the sunshine in fields at the foot of our beautiful South Downs this morning - and then she scampered about mistaking the very low flying little birds for rabbits, happy as can be I thought who cares if she didn`t even get through to the second wave of judging, let alone come home with a placement.........
She`s my beautiful girl, it`s just she was in the midst of many hundreds just as adorable! So many well looked after houndies, and that`s the most important thing isn`t it?

Yes the Great greyhound gathering was a wonderful day.
We felt very priveledged to have represented our region.

I`m sure Dolly, Tim and Dino and Diana, Andrew, Dennis and Lilly and the other greys and owners who stayed at the Gatweay hotel rather like campers on Friday evening with our dog on duvet suppers all loved every minute of it!

Just sorry not to have been able to bring the glory and dosh home to Brighton and Hove, cos it would have been a buzz! ;) BUT waiting in the wings, unknown yet(?) next years representitive and who knows...........?

Lou and a very content and sleepy Lottie xxx
