We have had our artificial lawn for about 3 years now and its been fantastic! One of our dogs cannot get muddy paws due to an immune problem so its been brilliant for her. It does not cause any problem ie burns etc to their paws, the only bad thing about it is if you walk on it without shoes on a hot day it gets quite warm, but the dogs don not seem to notice!

I would advise getting the artificail grass even though it can be quite expensive. It can be kept really clean, no need for cutting and it always looks good!

There you are Kathy, maybe it could be an option then. :) How big is your lawn area Alison, are your dogs able to get up to speed on it?

Re: artifical lawn

Its only about 20ft long. Lily cant be bothered to run anymore as shes too old, but Henri quickly gets up to speed on it and enjoys galloping round in circles on it!

We are actually just about to put artificial grass down on another part of the garden and we may go for coloured grass this time, blue possibly!

This sounds like a great option for our little back garden (approx 5mx6m) Its far too small for Tiger to run about in but has turned into a real mess where he has killed all the grass! Please let us know how you get on.

Re: artifical lawn

thanks everyone, this has been really helpful.

I've now decided to re turf.

Reason is that the steep slope of the lawn really does require benjie to be able to dig in on his downwards ascent so he can stop before he meets the steps and rockery to the patio area. (there's about 16 winding concrete steps up to the lawn so it's quite a drop!)

'cos my garden is so shady, I'm prone to moss and mind your own business and I've been told that this will eventually try to creep over any surface anyway and that would be really slippery.

I used to think my garden was really interesting but now it feels really challenging

have a good weekend everyone :D

Re: artifical lawn

Grass and greyhounds don't go together. I have been trying to ignore the patch of mud.. that was once my lovely turfed lawn!!! over the winter months but with Spring coming so it can't be ignored any longer.

I would prefer natural rather than artficial so has anyone else got any ideas how to bring my smallish, flat lawn back to life apart from putting down more turfs. Is there any variety of grass seed that would withold heavy paws?

Re: artifical lawn

Hi
Had quote for artificial lawn on Tuesday.
It is a bit pricy but looks good all year. Have reaserched it and dog's don't seem to mind it comes with 8 year guarantee and should last for 15 years. we will be going ahead with it. Only problem is have to wait a month before they can start work. Will keep you posted with an update when it's done.
Hope this helps Mandy.

Re: artifical lawn

Hi Had my lawn done it's "brill" no more mud in the house dogs love it they spend all day lounging around on it they have mad times running around and it does'nt cause any damage. Its got 8 years guarantee and they expect it to last 20 years. I would recomend it to any one.

Re: artifical lawn

Hi sorry my PM was'nt working but have sorted it out now.
It was done by Easigrass there web site is www.easigrass.com.
they were great did it all in one day if you go on there website they have a calculator there that you can work out how much it will cost. You can also bye the grass and do it yourself if you want. They have all diferent types we got the Mayfair which is expencive ours was £2784.75incl. approx 25 square meters. Don't think I would ever have turf again it's so great no mud no mess.
