Re: EAST OF THE DOWNS GREYHOUND WALKS

Hi everyone, Boycey and Marlene here
Firstly, sorry to hear about Mike, we all wish you a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing you on the next walk.

Thanks to our friends at the Eastbourne Herald. they very kindly put a reminder in the Friday edition of the Herald. As a direct result, we welcomed 5 newbies. We hope they enjoyed the experience and that they will join us again on the next walk.
We also met a gentleman. who having seen the item in the Herald, came along to meet us hounds. He was very impressed and we look forward to seeing him on a future walk with a hound that he is considering adopting. Abi keep an eye out for us.
The great news is that our human friends dipped deep into their pockets and we collected £32.20 in donations and a further £21 for the car stickers.
In case you have missed out, Master will be bringing more stickers (greyhounds are for life - not just for racing' to the next walk.
We reckon that there were approx 20 hounds on todays walk, lets see if we can better that on the next one.

THE NEXT WALK WILL BE ON EASTER SATURDAY, 3RD APRIL, SAME TIME SAME PLACE.
We look forward to seeing you all there.

Bye for now
Boycey, Marlene, Jayne and Chris

Re: EAST OF THE DOWNS GREYHOUND WALKS

Great walk today,

Good to meet again (and raise £53.20 just for turning up and chucking loose change in the collection box - wow!)

Lovely to see new folk joining us; particularly the greyhound who found his way back to England from an uncertain future in Spain, and to be there in companionship with the couple who sought us out with their 2 remaining greyhounds, having said goodbye to their third hound only last night. Welcome to Missie! ( I think this was her name - another Brighton RGT placement ) and 11 yr old Eddie who was such a sweetie.

How wonderful that someone came to have a look at us whilst considering adopting a greyhound! Our houndies were excellent ambassadors for all those waiting to find new homes :)

thanks for organising us and looking forward to our next rendeavoux!

kathy :D and benjie boy

Re: EAST OF THE DOWNS GREYHOUND WALKS

It was a really lovely walk today and great to see so many new faces (both human and greyhound!)

Sorry to hear that Mike isn't well Wendy - hopefully we'll get to see you all at the next one.

I took a couple of photos of the feeding frenzy afterwards which I'm going to try to attach here (if I manage to do it, I'll be amazed!) Lenny was shamelessly going after treats in all directions but I think Marlene did quite a good job of keeping up with him :D

Oh Kate - the photos are brilliant!

We were saying it was a pity that nobody had a camera so what a lovely surprise.

(I think that senior Eddie is bottom right of photo having a special treat under Denise's scarf.)

Always reminds me of feeding the ducks but without any squawking or shoving - SO well mannered ........... :)

Wendy, I'm sorry that I forgot to wish Mike well. I hope to see you both next time.

Regards

Re: EAST OF THE DOWNS GREYHOUND WALKS

Im getting so annoyed now as again I wont be able to make the walk on easter saturday <_<
Russell is doing a sponsered walk starting on 1st april through to 3rd april and proberly wont be home til late afternoon/evening, he is doing it with acouple of friends, starting in the petersfield area I think and ending up at Jack and Jill in total about 80 miles. All sponsership money is being put to one of the rescues I foster for, so its well worth it...if any of you want to spare your loose change  lol

Hi Kate,

sorry not to see you and lovely lenny this saturday, but pleased to read under health thread that his cough is nothing serious.

I loved the photo in Rogues gallery of him "admiring the view" - imagine you were very proud while you took it :)

Re: EAST OF THE DOWNS GREYHOUND WALKS

Hi Everybody Boycey and Marlene Here
This is the final posting on this subject, we'll start a new one for the summer season.
Yesterdays walk was brilliant, 17 hounds, we think, turned up - the weather was fine and warm but the park was still a bit boggy in places. That didn't deter anyone!!
We had some more newbies and a special welcome to Diana and Lily who came all the way from Lancing.
The walks are going from strength to strength and we must again thank everyone who made donations and/or purchased some of the merchandise on behalf of our friends at Albourne.
The good news is that we raised £26.40 in donations and a further £30.50 in purchases.
Our next walk on May 1st will be the last at the winter meeting time of 14.00 hrs, from June we'll return to the summer meeting time of 17.00.
Master will be asking Abi and Jenny to let us have some more bits for sale at future walks so keep checking with us to see what we have for sale.
A special mention must be made of Jason and Sandy Little who have been lobbying Eastbourne Council to let the Eastbourne Volunteer Group rent the disused bowling greens in Princes Park on the East side of town as an area where we can let our hounds and other responsible dog owners exercise their dogs, off lead in a controlled area.
Jason will be putting an item under the 'Walkies' topic to explain more. We need your support so please look out for his item and lend your support.
Finally, we will be having a stand at the Princes Park fun day on August 21st. Can anybody help with free standing display boards for use (on a permanent basis) We are hoping to set up our own 'stand kit' for the East of the Downs area. Can everyone check their diaries to see if they can come along and help run the stall and possibly other events which we may attend in our neck of the woods.
Well bye for now
Boycey, Marlene, Jayne and Chris
